WALK AND VISIT TO MATLOCK, DERBYSHIRE
Wednesday, 27th June 2018
This year the Ramblers group is going north to Derbyshire, and the superb scenery of the Peak District. We are offering, as usual, our remaining spare seats on the coach to all WDU3A members, whether walkers or not.
Our coach will be travelling from Offchurch to historic Matlock, where we will allow time for coffee before setting out on our walk. The walk, of about 5 miles, will be circling Matlock and will give us stunning views out over the surrounding countryside, and down into the town itself. NB. Bring a picnic.
Non-walkers have plenty to occupy themselves with: the Heights of Abraham cable car, the Aquarium and Hologram gallery, the Peak District Mining Museum, and plenty of eating places. A little further afield, Cromford, a birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, offers a fascinating selection of industrial archaeology.
Friends and partners are welcome to come along, but they must be members of the U3A or we are not covered by insurance.
The charge this year is just £13.00. Not included are refreshments or any entry charges. To reserve your place, send your cheque, payable to U3A Rambling Group, plus your name, email and telephone number to:
15 Hyde Place
Leamington Spa CV32 5BT
Please say whether you will walk or not.

The group would meet weekly on a Tuesday or Thursday morning 10 am to noon. The walks would be local in the Leamington Spa/Radford Semele area. Email Stephanie Wilkinson if interested. Full contact details can be found in Info 144.

ICE - In Case of Emergency
A national "In Case of Emergency (ICE)" campaign with the support of Falklands war hero Simon Weston and in association with Vodafone's annual life savers award.
The idea is that you store the word "I C E" in your mobile phone address book, and against it enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted "In Case of Emergency".
In an emergency situation ambulance and hospital staff will then be able to quickly find out who your next of kin are and be able to contact them. It's so simple that everyone can do it. It really could help the emergency services in doing their job.
For more than one contact name ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc
Sending an email to a Group leader
