Meetings take place on the first Wednesday of the month at The Gap Community Centre, Oakwood Road, Warwick CV34 5TD and start at 2:15pm. This is an open group and all members are welcome. You can contact us as above, but please feel free to turn up on the day. There is a charge of £1.00 to cover the room cost.
We will have a short break, and tea/coffee will be available for 50p.
Architectural 'strolls' and trips are usually on the third Wednesday of some months and need to be booked with Jean (Contact details above).

There will be a visit and tour of Middleton Hall, North Warwickshire on Wednesday 18th September. We will leave Tesco car park at 10.45 am and drive to Tamworth for lunch and to explore the town or visit the castle. After lunch, we will make the short journey to Middleton Hall with tea or coffee on arrival (included). Here, we can choose one of three tours each lasting 1 hour. Full details of the tours appeared in the last issue of Info and can be found on the website.
Cost will be £18 and payment and booking form should be sent to Maggie Watts. Remember to specify what tour you would like to be included on, either the Architecture tour, the History tour, or the Garden tour.
|Wed Oct 2nd||Arch Bridges over the Centuries - a talk by Alan Mordey, former Highways & Transportation Engineer, Atkins Consultants|
The arch form has existed since at least the 3rd Century BC, and remains of Roman arches can still be seen today. Early arches using stone, would be followed by arches in brick, cast iron and then reinforced concrete. The arch remains a viable structural form for new bridges.
