OTHER EVENTS OF INTEREST

Themed dining
Our next themed dining event is taking place on Tues 22nd Oct, 7pm, join us for a Trafalgar dinner and learn about the women who influenced Nelson’s life.

European Cultures
This group is for enthusiasts about all things European. Whether or not you speak a European language, this group welcomes you. We offer a European themed event quarterly, during the daytime or evening. It normally includes food and/or wines and is followed by some interesting presentations by members on interesting aspects of history, literature or culture.
Previous events have included ‘An evening of Tapas and everything Spanish’, ‘Experiences of France’, and a ‘Fete de Rois’.

Discovering Wines
Please join us if you are interested in wines and would like to learn a little more about how to get the best out of the wines we drink! Members present a selection of wines they have enjoyed and hopefully we will experience a wider range of wines than we would normally try for ourselves. Tastings and discussions are informal, relaxed and for enjoyment. Who knows, we might come away knowing a little more than we did!

We make notes about colour, bouquet and taste and give the wines a score out of 10 using a set of guidelines.
We are trying something new and having a themed wine tasting quiz along the lines of ‘Would I lie to you?’ Come along and join the fun? Thurs 31st October, 7pm at Johns home. £5pp with cheese and biscuits. Please make your booking at the next monthly meeting in Sept.

It was a pleasure to see other groups of members engrossed in good friendly conversations and interestingly most having only met for the first time. There also was the tutorial for iPad and iphone run by Rob. All in all, it was a really good and enjoyable meeting.
