Group leader Chris Cole
Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location. It’s a modern day Treasure Hunt.

As a very new group, with all of us new to Geocaching, our first outings have been focused on learning how to use the GPS equipment, learning how to record our finds but most of all learning what we are actually looking for. We get better each session.
As at 4th January 2017 our group have ventured out three times and have discovered thirteen geocaches. We have now completed the Rixton with Glazebrook Trail. The fastest find to date must surely go to Elizabeth who had the cache container in her had while the rest of us were still taking readings. The best “treasure” to date was found by Ken who discovered a pretty Gingerbread Man Christmas tree decoration.
We have had a lot of enjoyment and discovered a part of Warrington we knew very little about. We finish our sessions with a lunch together (always in a pub so far.) where we discuss the morning and plan our next outing.
Our next Geocache Hunt will be on Friday 31st March. If you would like to join us please click the bird in top right of the page to message the leader.
