The group is for beginners and improvers who want to be able to read the "real classical Latin" and understand the grammatical structure of an inflected language which is an important feature of most European languages other than English and French. We have found that this enables us to understand our own language better and other languages we have learned in the past - especially German and Russian. We have read sections from Caesar's memoirs, Tacitus' history - fables and stories. Having mastered the basic structure of the Latin noun and verb we now have a firm foundation on which to base further study.
Anybody who has studied Latin in the past and thinks they have forgotten it would be most welcome to join us. You would be suprised at how much you have remembered.
