The U3A is a unique and exciting self-help educational movement for people no longer in full-time work. It gives the opportunity to pursue learning for sheer enjoyment and for its own sake in a wide range of interest groups making new friendships.
The Wanstead and Woodford U3A was launched in January 2012 to cover this area of East London and Essex and its numbers have been increasing year on year. The current annual Membership fee for 2019/2020 is £15.00. Renewal date is 31st March each year. The Membership fee may be adjusted from time to time subject to the approval of the Members
All current members have access to our monthly general meeting, interest groups and outings and visits. The monthly meeting is held on the first Tuesday on the Month from 10.00 - 11.45 at the Woodford Memorial Hall adjacent to St. Mary's Church, 206 High Road South Woodford, London E18 2PA. (Doors open 20-30 minutes before the meeting which starts promptly at 10.00. From January 2020 meetings will start at the revised time of 10.30 a.m.
Doors are will be closed when the number of members in the hall reaches 200. This is because of the maximum hall capacity, number of chairs available and the fire regulations.
We aim to have an interesting speaker each month with time for socialising and joining new interest groups. FREE tea and coffee plus biscuits available at the end of the meeting.
