A member of St. George's staff volunteers to learn to knit.
It's Volunteers Week at St. George's Hospital in Tooting. Members of the knitters group from U3A were at the hospital demonstrating how they knitted Twiddlemuffs for dementia patients. Twiddlemuffs are muffs with objects sown inside of them. They are helpful for patients with dementia because they can be used by the patient to help them keep their hands busy and this can lower their stress levels and keep them less agitated. The knitters group donate the muffs to the hospital. They have received lots of positive feedback from relatives and friends of the dementia patients being treated at the hospital.
