Linked to the Film Club and led by Anna, we aim to visit a cinema together once a month. We try to see films that will both entertain and provoke thoughts to continue a discussion afterwards.
WFU3A cinema visits are on a regular monthly basis on the second Tuesday of the month. We usually go to a local cinema - Walthamstow Empire, South Woodford Odeon, Stratford or Hackney Picturehouse and sometimes further afield. Prices vary depending on the cinema, starting from £4.25 in the local cinemas and our rare trips to the West End are more expensive. Most cinemas are easily accessible by public transport, and have lifts.
The film is selected in advance but most cinemas only release programmes for Tuesday either late on Wednesday or even as late as Thursday in the previous week. So final details are often only available at short notice. For the film title and time for each visit, phone or email Anna, or check CINEMA VISITS below or on the main EVENTS page. After the film we discuss it over a cuppa. Everyone is welcome. Discussions are informal and everyone can say how they found the film, all pluses and minuses; often the most precious are the comments like: 'I didn’t get it when....' and then others help us understand the film better or we all 'don’t get it.' All views have equal value. This is not an exclusive club for 'film buffs'. You only need to love all sorts of films.
