19th Century Literature
The group began by looking at all the works of Dickens, turned to a volume of each of the Brontes and have now discovered the great variety of novels published in the Nineteenth Century. Recently the group has read books by Mark Twain, Thomas Hardy, Sir Walter Scott and Jane Austen. The Nineteenth Century has produced so many fine books. We take our time reading the books, some of them might seem intimidatingly long. At our monthly meetings we watch a film adaptation together. Recently we have spent time looking at the writers and their times, and how that influenced their writings. There are some wonderful writers to explore and discuss, and the group contribute their own thoughts on the characters, plots and circumstances. It is a fun journey.
