Guitar

Our guitar group were invited to play a gig at Oxton U3A on 6th June (D-day). It was very well attended and the audience seemed to appreciate our efforts. We played a one hour set and were praised for our wide choice of songs, seventeen in all, varying from The Beatles to The Everleys to The Traveling Wilburys. Perhaps we should play this sort of gig more often.

Although we are not charged for using the room at Atherton Court for our practice, we have always made a weekly voluntary donation to them and out of this the residents have recently bought a large smart television for their main lounge. We were delighted to learn that we are putting something back in to the community with our donations over the last four years which have been sufficient to pay for the tv for all the residents of Atherton Court to enjoy.

Our acoustic guitar group meet every Monday morning at 10 until 12.30 at Atherton Court, Alexandra Road, New Brighton. We are twelve in number and as such are unable to take any more people on at the moment unfortunately, due to shortage of space. However we are happy to add people to a waiting list if anyone wishes to join us in the future. However, please note that our Guitar Group is not a learning group, which means that unfortunately, we do not have the resources to teach the guitar

We play a mix of songs from Beatles to folk and always enjoy learning new ones. Our emphasis is on learning but we were delighted when we were invited to play for the Birkenhead U3A at their meeting hall at the Williamson Art Gallery and at the last two Christmas concerts at our meeting hall at the Grosvenor Ballroom, Wallasey.
