Our Network has to reflect what your u3a wants from it
Here are some ideas taken from Network Meetings, members, u3a Office website, Pathfinders, Network Link etc.
- To help u3a Trustees, Interest Group Leaders and other volunteers to collectively share their knowledge and expertise with other u3as. Sharing best practice and discussion of issues of concern. Generally, u3as helping one another. This is a key element of the Network and should be an item on every Agenda.
- Zoom meetings. No travel or hall hire costs so we can have more meetings including shorter more focused ones in addition to the usual General meetings. Eventually we may go back to (some) face to face meetings but there is no desire to do so.
- Inter u3a competitions. Quiz, Bridge, Mah Jong, Skittles, Badminton, Table Tennis etc.
- Encourage joint meetings of similar interest groups
- One u3a giving help and advice to start up the same group in another u3a.
- Use South Wales Trustee to channel SWN concerns to u3a Office

Wed Oct 2nd | Network Link Meeting Spring Meeting via Zoom, 10.00 to 12.30 The meeting is open to all u3a members so if you cannot attend, please encourage someone else to come along. Running an event in your network Pat Collard (Yorkshire and Humberside region) and David Ashton (South East region) have experience of organising events such as Summer Schools and the recent Festival. They will be presenting a talk, explaining all the pitfalls, the requirements, and the excitement in setting up an event, large or small. Artificial Intelligence for networks Barry Claydon, AI Subject Advisor, will discuss AI tools and how networks can utilise them. As usual we will end with a chance for you to "Air and Share". Let me know in advance at Sue.Russell@u3a.org.uk so that I have an idea of numbers and likely topics. Attendance is free, and open to all u3a members from all u3as. Registration is via TicketSource – please click on this link https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/u3a-thames-valley-network/t-movzdzx and follow the instructions to register. (As always, Network Link is grateful to the Thames Valley Network team for their technical assistance with TicketSource links.) Please answer the two questions on the booking form – if your u3a is not currently a member of a network, or if you are not sure which one, please say so. If you have any problems with registration, please contact Avis Furness at u3anetworklinkmeeting@gmail.com The Zoom link will be sent out nearer the time to all who have registered. |
