Members looking for an easy means of reducing stress, increasing flexibility and improving health have started Tai Chi sessions with partners Uplands Sports Centre.
Wadhurst U3A's new Tai Chi group is held with Instructor Pete Phipps who runs the Kent and East Sussex Tai Chi Association and has been involved in and teaching this ancient art for 39 years. It costs £4.50 per one hour-session on production of a current Wadhurst U3A membership card.
Tai Chi is low impact and puts minimum stress on muscles and joints, making it ideal for members. Experts say that it decreases stress, anxiety and depression, improves mood and aerobic capacity as well as generally increasing energy and balance. It also enhances sleep, boosts the immune system, lowers blood pressure and helps to alleviate joint pain.
