I am sorry to have to say that because of the latest Covid lockdown there will not be an Amble in January.,awaiting government announcements
However you are allowed to meet one other person for outside exercise, so why not grab a friend and reconnoiter a walk for next year.
Aim for the walks to be of about two hours duration – 3 to 5 miles – but there is no reason why a shorter one cannot be chosen and used as an evening walk.
The idea of an ‘Dawn Chorus’ walk was once mooted but foundered because most of us like our beds but the idea shouldn’t be discarded, it could take place with just a handful attending.
Any other ideas???
I am still hoping that the December Mince-pie Meander can take place.
The Ambles are of about 2 hours’ duration and are usually followed by a reasonably priced lunch (Optional) at a nearby venue. Car share usually applies .(Passengers contribute to car owners fuel costs
Maureen and Colin led 12 of us on the Amble of October 15th. the weather was cool, dry and bright.
Starting from Mappleton we had an attractive walk of just 4 miles, close to the river Dove through a mix of fields and woods, it took us about 2 hours. Unfortunately the recent heavy rain had made the path very slippery in several places but no one lost their dignity.
11 of us had lunch at the Okeover Arms afterwards.
Note that there is no group fee to attend this group.
Contact Mike as above if you require more information, add your name to his mailing list or can help in organising a walk
