There will NOT be an Amble on December 19th. as it is too near Christmas.
However there have been suggestions that we do something on that date.
Originally I thought possibly lunch at the Shrewsbury Arms, Kingstone but as there are an awful lot of group lunches around that time I am inclining toward having coffee at The Olive Tree in Stramshall instead. Last year they had mince pies with cream to die for.
I am open to any suggestions and would appreciate your views please.
Amble on Nov 21st
There were 10 of us on this Amble, the weather was dull and cold (5*) with a bracing wind on part of the route, fortunately it was dry and conditions underfoot were good.
The Amble was ‘Plan “C” because I had received a phone call two days beforehand saying that conditions in Biggindale were atrocious and the river Dove was over its banks in Wolfscote Dale so I opted to do an out and back route rather than the circular one planned. This worked well, we found the river and the caves which we missed on the recce- although we did not explore either. The Amble was about five miles long and took us just about two hours to complete.
Afterwards six of us had lunch at ‘The Waterloo Inn’
Details of the walks are also posted on the notice board in Wilfred House.
Note that there is no group fee to attend this group.
