LEARNING NOT LONELY.
There is much talk about loneliness amongst retired people.
After you retire and the euphoria of escaping the nine to five routine has worn off you may find you miss the stimulation of other people and the daily challenges that come with the work place. Upton and Lytchett U3A can replace the nice bits of work; mental and (gentle) physical activity, companionship and of course gossip. We are a lively and friendly organisation offering a wide range of study and interest groups. Anyone who is semi-retired or retired is eligible to join up to 3 groups. It's a good way to meet people and make new friends.
Membership fees are:
Single membership £25; Joint membership £45
During the year fees are reduced:
Spring term: Single membership £20; Joint membership £35
Summer term: Single membership £15; Joint membership £20
Membership runs October to September.
Contact the Membership Secretary by clicking the link on the Contact page.
We are always looking for new groups and group leaders to expand the variety of areas of interest we offer. So, if you don't see a subject you are interested in we will do what we can to help you get a course started.
We hope you would like to join us, especially if you have an interest or skill to share, please contact our Membership Secretary by clicking the link on our Contact page.
The U3A stands for the University of the Third Age, which is self-help organisation for people no longer in full time employment providing educational, creative and recreational opportunities in a friendly environment. Our group leaders have an interest in their subjects.
The original idea for Upton and Lytchett joining the U3A organisation was formulated in 2006. This branch was inaugurated in September 2007 and the first of 26 groups covering 21 subjects started in October of that of that year. Currently we have 30 groups led by 29 group leaders. For more details of any particular group please press the appropriate link on the Groups page.
