Railways were the foundation for North East prosperity in the 19th century and the region’s engineers led the world for many years in developing new transport technology. It’s an exciting part of the world to live for rail enthusiasts.
Our group has wide-ranging interests – from steam locomotives to signalling, railway architecture to wagonways. None of us claim to be specialists and we all intend to learn from one another.
The meetings include railway-related talks by group members, visits to preserved and modern railways (in the summer months) and discussions focussed on railway DVDs and other artefacts.
Join us on our rail adventures, please do make contact. We meet on the last Monday of each month, in the Torch Centre, Corbridge Road (opposite Hexham Hospital). Sometimes the meetings are outings and days may vary..
