Nature Walks

With interest in both these groups being shown from mostly the same members, it was logical to combine them into a single group.

We have had some gentle walks and some longer ones. The weather hasn't always been ideal but we still managed to see a wide variety of fungi during our woodland walk at Delgatie Castle.

There were plenty of Ducks and Geese to be spotted at Loch of Strathbeg where we were accompanied by an RSPB warden from the reserve.

At our initial get-together at Fyvie Castle some of us were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a Kingfisher while watching the young Herons stretching their wings in the nest. On a return visit there we watched Tufted & Goldeneye Ducks and Little Grebes.

In 2015 we plan to continue with the Nature Walks group which will explore the natural world around us but would also like to start an Ambling Walks group. This would be for those members who feel that they are unable to tackle the longer walks but would like to meet up for a gentle stroll and a chat. These walks could be along a favourite country path or following a historical trail around a town or village. The members will decide.
