Countdown to COP26
The Global Climate talks, ‘COP26’ will take place in Glasgow in November 2021 and this new group will attempt to stay updated with developments and develop our understanding of what COP is, why it matters and, eventually, where do we all go from here.
The Countdown to COP26 group meets at 10 am on the last Friday of the month and will do so until the end of the year. The group will seek to better understand and discuss the background to COP26, including: the UNFCCC and the Kyoto protocol; the Paris Agreement and how we can work together to limit global warming to 1.5 C by 2050. The group will also look at the intentions of the Conference of the Parties (COP) and what we might see coming out of the most important COP conference ever. Members of the group are asked to agree to the discussion being recorded, as parts of this may be used in u3a media to make the subject available to the wider membership.
Join the group via the Beacon Members Portal.
