This group is open to all and will take from 1 to a maximum of 12 members and the intention is that the group will run during the Covid period and this will be reviewed in the Spring 2021.
Topical Philosophy dealing with issues of the moment, eg:
The Bomb – were the Americans right to drop the bombs on Japan?
Statues in the harbour – thinking about history and racism.
Democracy – Is it overrated?
Art, what is it?
Violence – can it be justified?
Religion – what is it and why is there so much of it about?
Issues are explored using philosophical techniques and the thoughts of The Greats
Group members will participate through Bcc mail bulletins containing links to videos and other on-line material.
One key email bulletin sent out per month, with additional supplements once or twice a month, usually sent at the beginning of the month.
Members are encouraged to respond with their thoughts and questions.
The essentials for members to participate are:
- an open mind
- a comfy chair
- a PC, tablet or smart phone to receive emails and access the Internet
- recommended books and other sources will be suggested.
