Modern Conversational Greek for Beginners is for members who would like to learn modern conversational Greek
Learning a new language can be fun!! Don’t worry about learning grammar and do not let the Greek alphabet put you off!! The sessions will focus on interactive communication; you will learn some basic spoken Modern Greek, be introduced to some simple written Greek through the kind of language seen on signs and posters about a town- no need to grapple with the Greek alphabet. You will be surprised how fast you can learn to recognise some words. We will also dip into Greek culture and lifestyle, and maybe look at a recipe for Greek cakes. If you have a sweet tooth and a yen to visit Greece again, this is the class for you!
The initial topics will include:
Introductions and ordering drinks in a bar or café; food vocabulary.
Talking about family
Travel and time.
Asking about and talking about places; town vocabulary
Festivals and celebrations
Topics from the group members will be also be welcomed.
The group will run via Zoom and the session will be 1 hour (with a break). The meeting days and times for this 'term' are below. All meetings will start 10.30am on Wednesdays.
