We sometimes have a chat at Bill's house on anything from the social life of our poor, middle class and rich predecessors including clothing, food, work and leisure activities, to the Kings and Queens and their various foibles, masters and mistresses, madness and dodgy dealings. We discuss the plight of the poor, inventions, industry, and the formation of the Empire, and at other times join the various U3A visits where they have a historical theme. Terry does some organising and we all chip in with historical facts and opinions.
Recent interesting dips into history have looked at -

We have had several looks at the "great" war, World War 1, recently as we were reminded by 100 year anniversaries of events, battles, and war news. We also considered the Magna Carta and it's influence on our democracy and are about to look at Thomas Cromwell's influence on parliament. Very relevant to the current day with strife in the house of commons.
