Torridge

Welcome

Welcome to Torridge U3A, a local group which was established over 30 years ago to provide a wide range of social, sporting and educational activities for people who are retired, semi-retired or no longer in full time employment. We are run as an independent charity by and on behalf of our members and we are also affiliated to the National U3A movement which has over 1,000 branches throughout the UK. Our membership is drawn from Bideford, Northam, Westward Ho!, Instow, Torrington and the surrounding areas and everyone is welcome to join our organisation and take part in the many activities run by our members.

Torridge U3A has around 300 members with over 40 different groups giving our members the chance to get involved in a wide range of social, sporting, educational and general interest groups. These range from badminton, short tennis and snooker to walking, birdwatching and camera groups, from musical appreciation, craft and art to French and German study groups and from science, technology and psychology to discussion, family history and writing groups!

We never forget how important friendliness and social interaction is in our lives and all our activities are designed to be welcoming and enjoyable. To this end we also have dining out groups and have regular coffee mornings as well as a monthly lunch featuring a diverse range of speakers which takes place in a local hotel.

If you are retired or no longer in full time employment, want to make new friends and improve your social life, why not contact us to find out more about Torridge U3A. If you have a specific interest which is not covered by our existing groups this could be an ideal opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and start a new group within Torridge U3A.

Our logo was designed by John Wright, who was for some time the leader of the Drawing Groups. The only change has been to update the 'u3a' text to the new branding.
