Information for New Members

Welcome to Torbay u3a. Please click on the coloured text links for more information or to contact someone.

The Groups page shows you what groups we currently have and on which day they meet. Click on a group you are interested in, where you can find out more information and contact the leader.

If you are interested in joining a group, first contact the group leader to discuss your interest and to establish that there is a place available.

Should you then join, please try to be punctual at meetings, and also to keep commitments that you make as part of the group; if you are unable to attend a meeting, or no longer wish to take part, please let the group leader know so that they do not involve you in activities and are able to offer your place to another member if there is a waiting list.

If your particular interests / skills are not included in the current list, you may like to consider starting a new group - please contact the Groups Co-ordinator for advice.

Groups are self-financing as necessary according to decisions taken by the group’s members; however, where a meeting is held in a member’s home all attendees should also offer the agreed contribution to the cost of refreshments.

When contacting Group Leaders, Committee Members, or other U3A members, please respect their privacy and avoid calling at unsocial hours.

On the subject of privacy, we must draw your attention to our Privacy Policy and the other documents referenced within it. You may also like to take a look at the Rules of Torbay U3A.

The Monthly Newsletter (sent by email shortly before the monthly meeting) will give you further information about what's happening, and the website is always your best reference point for information about Meetings, Events, Outings, and Groups.

If you need further advice, please contact the New Members Co-ordinator or the Membership Secretary.

We hope that you will enjoy your membership of Torbay U3A now and in the years to come.
