Groups

Please scroll down for a full list of groups. If you want to know more about a particular group, just click on its name to open that group's page, which has a description of the group plus location, access etc. To contact the leader of the group for more information, or to enquire about attending, click on the group leader's name, which will take you to a contact page where you may send your question by email. You may also include a telephone number for a response.

If you wish to attend any of our groups, please contact the Group Leader first, as space may be limited. Groups that are full have a grey background. You can still contact the leader if you would like to join them, and they will place you on a waiting list. Alternatively, if you would like to start another one with yourself as the leader, or have an idea for a new group that is not listed, send a message to our Groups Coordinator or download our Group Survey Form, print it off and hand it in at one of our monthly meetings. See the Group News link on the right for ideas that have already been suggested.

Some meetings are held in member's homes, where disabled access and facilities may not be as you would expect in a public venue. If you have mobility or other special needs, please speak to the Group Leader, and they will do what they can to assist.

Members are invited to host (but not necessarily lead) groups in their own home as it is quite often difficult to find suitable premises. Please contact the Groups Coordinator if you think you may be able to help.

All individuals are expected to be able to take full responsibility for their own participation in u3a activities/events. The Third Age Trust has also extended its liability insurance policy to cover the attendance of a companion/carer if needed. Please speak to the Group Leader to arrange this if necessary.

Members pay an agreed contribution towards refreshments. Paid up members of any u3a may, with permission, attend on payment of £1, and visitors may attend up to 2 meetings (with Group Leader's permission) for a payment of £1 each time. Where a room is hired, costs are divided among the group. Members also pay for their own materials, for example, language study guides.

We encourage car sharing where appropriate, with a contribution to driver's costs.

National u3a Groups and Activities
In addition to the list below, the National u3a also have a selection of online interest groups. It costs £12 per annum to join any number of groups, and you can pay online via PayPal or credit card. The year runs from 1st April to 31st March. You can view the list of groups and join if you like using the link above.

They also have some online learning events which are hosted on Zoom and are free to join if you are a u3a member. Their national initiatives also showcase a wide range of learning activities for members to get involved in - from challenges and projects to competitions.
