This group visits churches of historical and architectural interest within a 30 mile radius of Tiverton. Members are encouraged to car share where possible when travelling to the chosen churches.
We try to arrange a church member to show us around their church, but failing that, and we are left to our own devices, we use guide leaflets when available. Sometimes the U3A organiser has been kind enough to read up about the church and can therefore act as a guide.
It is a policy of the group that we make a donation to each church visited, and to this end we ask for a sum of £2 per member per church. On some occasions, church members offer us some refreshment, in which case we will ask for a £1 donation from every participating group member.
The success, and continuation of the group relies heavily on members volunteering to take turns in organising trips, so please step up and consider what you can do to help in order to keep the group going. We have already reduced our meeting dates to once every 2 months due to lack of volunteers who are prepared to help.
The co-ordinators have a list of churches previously visited, plus suggestions for future visits, and they will give any support needed to volunteers.
