Mahjong - News & Programme
Mahjong is a surprising easy game to play. If you have ever played the card game Rummy then you can play Mahjong. It is nothing like the card matching solitaire game of the same name you see on the internet.
The game originated in China in the 1800s and is best played by four people although two or three can play. There are many regional variations of varying complexity, however we play the simpler traditional Chinese version.
The game is played with a set of 144 tiles with Chinese characters and symbols. Almost all tiles also have western numbers or characters so they can be easily identified. You will be able to identify the tiles and understand how to play after just one session.
Our meetings are at 2:00pm on the following Mondays in 2020
