CRAFTY CHAT Mixed Craft Group
Group Leaders Chris Moreland and Pam Quilter
Unfortunately, since we began our Crafty Chat Group several years ago, we have lost some of our most talented craftswomen as happens in our age group and for those left we have floundered somewhat. As we were beginning to regroup again along came Covid and stopped us in our tracks. However, our most talented Scientists have (we hope) harnessed this most awful bug and have made it possible for us to resume our everyday life with care, once more, especially since we have embarked on our third age education through retirement and Thurrock U.3.A., which is and always has been a fabulous part of the National U.3.A association. Hence this Advertisement. Now that we are able to return to what is near normal, our Craft Group is looking to pick up and expand again. We know that since Lock Down there has been a great influx of New Members and I am sure that there must be lots of you that have a talent to share and a great enthusiasm for your preferred craft as well as looking for new and exciting things to do. So please come and join us and share your knowledge with us. At present we have Patchwork needlewomen, Felt Artists who also Water Colour and paint with Oils (however Thurrock U.3.A have an Art Group) but these three crafts do sometimes come together which we have seen, we also have a group of our members who are passionate about Card Making in so many different ways. Stamping and Colouring - Parchment work and paper piecing. We also have Crochet and Knitting, and as our title tells you plenty of Chat. We also try to help one another when we have a craft problem, but above all we are always looking for new (and old) members to come and share their craft with us and join our group. No matter what craft.
Our Crafty Chat Group is held at The Beehive Centre in Grays just five minutes walk from the Train Station and Bus Stops. It is held every other Friday from 1.30 until 3.30-4.00 during this time we share our knowledge with one another have a must have cup of tea/coffee/biscuit and above all make new friends. During the course of each year there are Craft exhibitions at various venues. Sometimes if there are enough members wishing to attend, we will engage either a Mini Bus or Coach to take us, where we can replenish our craft stash and get new ideas. Above all we are always interested in each other’s craft and are always willing to learn something new. The cost of all this? We pay just enough to cover the cost of the Hire Charge – Coffee/Tea/Biscuits. So, the more who join the less we pay. We always pay in advance as we have to pay the cost of the Hire in advance If you would like to have a taster, please feel free to come and join us for the afternoon. Look at the Group Diary and give Chris a phone call just to make sure we will be there. We really do want you to come and join our group. We are a welcoming friendly bunch of Crafty Chatters so See You There…………………………..Chris.
