Here & There
Here and There Group was formed to provide day trips for all members of U3A and is open to all current members. Programmes are drawn up throughout the year and published at the monthly meetings, with notices on the table in the small lounge at general meetings. The aim of the group is to offer interesting venues and visits to places of interest and members are invited to book their trips at the meetings or to contact the two group leaders direct. Prices are kept as low as possible and shorter distances are offered so that the journeys are not too long or too far away. The group aims to provide trips roughly once a month with the occasional coffee morning to catch up with as many members as possible. Over the past years Backstage Tours of London Theatres have been arranged, Stately Homes and Castles, Seaside towns for relaxation, visits to Columbia Road Flower Market, The Tower of London Ceremony of the Keys (twice last year), Chocolate Lady, Boat Trips – you name it, the group will go there. Christmas meals have also been arranged at some beautiful venues, and this year a group of 76 will be going on a “non-cruise” on “Magellan at Tilbury for a Christmas meal, show-time, overnight cabin and breakfast. This group is co-run by Shirley Turner and Diane Turner (no relation to each other).
In April the group organised a visit to the Royal Albert Hall to watch a performance of the Music Man Project for students with learning disabilities from the Southend & Essex area.
Details of any planned trips are listed on the Events page of the website.
