London Loop Walking
The original Capital Ring Group are now looking to expand their horizons. The new aim is to walk the London Loop, a walk of 150 miles (242km), broken down into 24 sections. Full details of the Loop can be found on the Transport For London (TFL) Walks website.
The group meets monthly at a time convenient to the members. The meeting can be either a Saturday or Sunday. These being the days for cheaper rail fares and earlier travel. The group usually gets the first train that leaves Shoeburyness after 8 o’clock.
Most of the walks will be at least 10 miles, although it could occasionally be longer. Due to the distances travelled, some sections will be doubled up.
If you are interested in joining the group please Rosalind Sandford.
This was Section 3 of the walk from Petts Wood to West Wickham in lovely weather & some equally wonderful countryside.
The London LOOP walkers completed Section 2 this month. Starting at Bexley Station, taking in Footscray Meadows and Scadbury Park before finishing in Petts Wood. Some history on the route, Scadbury Manor was originally owned by Thomas Walsingham, who bought the property in 1424.
There were plenty of bluebells in the woods. Unfortunately the photo opportunities were spoilt by the group getting in the way!
