This is a research and discussion based group and everyone in the group takes an active role. We look at all aspects of Society, such as crime, globalization, the role of women, the underclass, the changing face of the pub in British life and many more interesting topics. No prior knowledge is needed, just a willingness to undertake some research and offer the findings to the group. You do not need to be able to have a computer for your research - local libraries are a great resource and so too are daily newspapers and TV and Radio.
The group leader is Anne Marcus. Please contact her if you are interested in joining.
For our November meeting the group members gave their suggestions for a 'Museum of the Millennium'. This future imaginary museum would house the objects that we use today but would be seen as ridiculous or unbelievable by future generations. This was one of our 'lighter' meetings during which we had some interesting discussions and a lot of laughter. These are the items we suggested:
Digital storage devices
Electric light switch
