London Group 9
Group 9 meets on the first Thursday of each month at least 10 times a year taking the train to Fenchurch street that leaves Thorpe Bay station at 9 15am. We seat ourselves in the second carriage so other members in the group can join us at stations on the way. If a walk longer than 2/3 miles and with challenging terrain [very rare ] is anticipated then we advise in advance but usually a walk focuses on a visit to a museum, gallery or building/s of historical or architectural interest. During 2108 we took a guided walk round Mayfair, visited the Mithras exhibition in the City , spent time in the British Museum, explored Bermondsey and subsequently visited the White Cube Gallery and the Fashion Museum, took the water taxi to Greenwich to explore the Queens House and the Maritime Museum, walked to Lambeth Palace and the Garden Museum , explored Primrose Hill and Regents Park and in December visited St Brides Church and saw the West End Christmas lights. We are a very sociable group and the day also centres on a generous coffee and lunch break and ends so a train home is caught before the rush hour.
There are currently vacancies in our group which is led by Margaret Ridley and Hazel Read. Please contact us via the website if you would like to join us.
