This group is led by Mick Rider - we meet on the second Thursday of the month for a statin challenging breakfast at a local pub where we discuss and argue about all sports for a couple of hours.
We are also an active group and attend various sporting events and venues.
Another visit for the group in June. As usual, the main winner was the Tote. See photo.
Climbing the O2
On May 14 a Talk Sport group conquered the O2.
We all donned our climbing gear, harnesses particularly tight for some of us!
Steep climb up with arrest harnesses difficult to push through but we all made the top.
Mick managed to arrange a bright clear sunny day for some amazing views over the Thames and Canary Wharf.
A great day had by all who managed the climb. See photos.
Back Room Tour of the 'Oval'
Peter Shaw writes:
On March 1st 12 members of the Talk Sport Group enjoyed a very interesting tour of the Oval, interesting that is if you like Cricket!
We started with a visit to the committee room with panoramic views of the pitch and OCS stand.
We then made our way to the Long Room where members can enjoy food and drink in plush surroundings.
Following this we made our way pitch side to enter the away team dressing room. Not a very large or well appointed area but as stated it was a lot plusher in the home dressing room.
From here we followed around the outer perimeter of the ground to the OCS stand and the Test Match Special commentary room followed by the Sky Room where some of us had our pictures taken in the interviewees chairs.
A really informative visit enjoyed by all, thank you to Mick for organising and best wishes to Sandra hoping you feel better soon.
