This is a discussion based group which covers topics chosen in advance by the whole group. Whilst the title is 'Psychology' the topics chosen often cross into other areas of human behaviour such as culture and sociology. Please contact June Lambert if you want more information.
Our May meeting investigated the topic of whether 'equality has been good for women and perhaps bad for men'. We talked about the lives of our mothers and whether they worked and who controlled the family finances. We were brought up to date by looking at the roles of younger generations to see what has changed. Whilst we came to no real conclusions we were a little concerned about how young women today seem more concerned with their looks than their intelligence levels, perhaps the feminist movement of 1970s didn't really have as much impact as it seemed at the time.
