Classical Music

The Classical Music Group meet from 10am till 12 noon on the 4th Wednesday of the month. Sue Heard is the leader of the Group.

June Meeting

During our June meeting, we listened some of the music in the Classic fm Hall of Fame. This year, The Lark Ascending is in position 1. We looked back, and agreed it is either 1, 2 or 3, so it is obviously very popular. We then listened to
a piano concerto by Sergei Rachmaninov.

Ralph Vaughan Williams was both 1st and 4th (Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis). Beethoven figured 3 times in the first 10, obviously a popular choice.
Tchaikovsky twice, with The 1812 Overture and The Nutcracker Suite.

We had an enjoyable morning and left with ears ringing, remembering our favourites.
