The Great War
The Great War Group started five years ago and now has less than a year to run to its conclusion in November 2018. The group meets on the 4th Tuesday every alternative month, January to November each year, at the leader's home.
Talks are given at each of the meetings on subjects of the Great War pertinent to approximately 100 years ago. In 2018, subjects will include: “Cambrai"; "Kaiserslacht – Operation Michael"; “The Canadians who stayed behind”; “Germany’s Blackest Day” and “The Last Day of the War”.
It is hoped that the Group will close with a trip to the Imperial War Museum.
The group currently numbers a little over 30 and is full. It is not intended to run a second group.
Further details are available from the Group Leader, Mark Walker, either by phone on Thornbury 411974 or email to The Great War.
