Our Living Language
If the origins, meanings, uses and abuses of our fascinating written and spoken tongue are of interest to you, then this is the group for you. We enjoy lectures, talks and discussions led by ourselves or outside speakers in a friendly, informal setting.
We meet in the Methodist Church Hall in Alveston usually on the 4th Monday of the month at 2pm. Expenses and refreshments are covered by a contribution of £1.00 per meeting.
The programme for the the rest of 2019 is as follows:
On 23rd September Sylvi Garratt and David West will give us the low-down on Cockney rhyming slang;
28th October sees the return of Justine Hopkins with a modern take on the myth of Daedalus and Icarus;
and on 25th November John Stennard will delve into Nordic Noir.
Just turn up or contact: Bob Dale on 415345 or by email to Our Living Language
