Our Living Language
If the origins, meanings, uses and abuses of our fascinating written and spoken tongue are of interest to you, then this is the group for you. We enjoy lectures, talks and discussions led by ourselves or outside speakers in a friendly, informal setting. Over the next few months, we are exploring various techniques that are used by speech-makers, advertisers, and good writers to give their works impact and keep them memorable.
After 18 months on Zoom, we are meeting face-to-face again. We meet at 2pm on the second Monday of the month at St Mary's Church Hall (behind the Health Centre in Thornbury).
Whether you have a degree in English Literature, or you just use English on a day-to-day basis, or English is a second language for you, you can be assured of a warm welcome. Just contact: Bob Dale on 415345 or by email to Our Living Language
