Our Living Language
If the origins, meanings, uses and abuses of our fascinating written and spoken tongue are of interest to you, then this is the group for you. We enjoy lectures, talks and discussions led by ourselves or outside speakers in a friendly, informal setting.
We meet in the Methodist Church Hall in Alveston usually on the 4th Monday of the month at 2pm. Expenses and refreshments are covered by a contribution of £1.00 per meeting.
The programme for the first part of 2020 is as follows:
On 27th January, Maurice Bell will elucidate Chaucer's Miller's Tale from the Canterbury Tales;
24th February sees the return of Justine Hopkins with a modern take on the myth of Daedalus and Icarus;
and on 23rd March Angela and John Green will bring us Victorian Voices.
