CORONAVIRUS
As a result of Covid 19 and mindful of the restrictions from central U3A and our venue at Alveston Methodist Church, Thornbury U3A Music Group has cancelled the four meetings September to December 2020.
The committee has received copies of the guidance issued by central U3A about restarting meetings. It is very constricting: not allowing gatherings of more than 30 people, advising against car sharing when going to meetings, and not allowing refreshments of any kind! Also, it advises the use of gloves at meetings, and hand sanitizer has to be provided.
We are very keen to resume our meetings as soon as we possibly can. As new information comes in, we will keep you up to date with developments. We will review the membership fees when we resume, so that we have a better idea of what we are budgeting for.
GENERAL
The U3A Music Group meets on the second Friday of each month from September to June inclusive in Alveston Methodist Church at 10.30am. The church is spacious and there is plenty of room if you just want to turn up on the day. There is a charge of £3 per meeting for visitors. Membership for the season (10 meetings) is £14, (a full year), see Coronavirus paragraph above.
We aim to have 8 of the 10 meetings as live performances from soloists and groups drawn from the local area and on occasions from wider afield. The June meeting is always in a Desert Island Discs format.
