Walkging and the Corona Virus update.
We have resumed walking in groups of up to 30 people and keeping to the social distance. The first walk after lock down was on Tuesday 16th June. It proved sucessfull and more walks are detailed below.
I put out a trial walk with self-guiding instructions and this has proved very sucessful. Several of you have already walked many of the walks and given positive feed back. Over the lockdown period we now have nearly 40 self-guided walks and more are in the pipline.I have put them under a new tab on the RHS Self guided walks
I welcome your input and suggestions for more walks. Each walk must start and finish at a non busy place. Ideally it should be a short distance from our base at Thorley. It can be any lenght from a couple of miles to as long as you want. Each walk should have a map, and a sheet of instructions. The idea being you can print the map and instructions on two A4 sheets (or back to back printing) and put them into a clear sleeve. As people send me feed back on the walks I can keep the instructions up to date. If you can not generate a map, please let me know and I will do it for you.
New walkers are always welcome to come and join our group. There is no charge for the walks, you used to be able to just turn up at the start point on the right day and time. Due to the virus we have to resrtict this to just 6 walkers and keep our social distance.
Most of our morning walks start at 10.00am unless stated otherwise. We set off fairly promptly.
The walks are on different days, and varying lengths. See the walks programme below for details.
Some walks start from a pub. Please only use the pub car park if you intend using the pub afterwards. Otherwise please park considerately in the streets nearby. The longer morning walks are scheduled to finish about 1.00 pm. On longer walks, we plan to stop at the halfway point for a short break, so bring a snack and or a drink. There are some all day walks. Please bring a packed lunch and drinks for these.
The walks programme. Please rememember that due to the current restrictions due to the Conona Virus the walks are limited to 30 people. You must contact me (firstname.lastname@example.org) before 4.00pm on the Sunday perceeding the walk to book a place.
