Cookery
The food and cookery group meet monthly on a Tuesday - we've chosen to meet at lunchtime 12.00 to 14.00 so we can taste the food we have prepared over a leisurely lunch! The group is very much about eating healthily, but also enjoying food and different flavours and techniques. We usually choose a theme for our meetings, then each prepare a plate to share at our meetings, sway the recipes and generally have a great lunch.
Themes have included:
Vegetarian dishes
Pate and terrines
Casseroles
Soups and breads
Picnic food which we ate outside in the warmth
Cooking with fruit
Canapes
Pancakes
Scottish food
English food
Colour themes including 'red' and 'orange'
We have also had a demonstration and practical session on 'sugarcraft'
We meet at the Church on the Way where we share the costs of the hire of the hall
We also aim to visit food halls (last year we went to Creake Abbey in North Norfolk) and other food events/displays. Occasionally we plan for members to demonstrate a favourite or unusual dish or meal they want to share with the group.
Our primary aim is to eat healthily, learn from each other and experience different types of food and cooking. So if you love food and want to join a group of enthusiastic foodies, then please come and join us.
