Book club 2
This new book club started in January 2020 as the original book club was full. We usually met in the lounge at Great Barn Court, or in people's homes if it was not available, on the second Thursday of each month, from 2-4. Until now we have been Zooming, still on the second Thursday of each month.
The group take turns in bringing three titles, either actual books or information about them, for the group to choose one from for the following month. The group is growing and the membership will be kept below 10, so that everyone has the chance to have their say about each book.
Members get books from the library, on Kindle, or from Abebooks or Amazon, or from charity shops, but that takes more time and luck!
After several months of meeting on Zoom, it was lovely to meet on 10th June in Sue's garden to talk about 'Nothing Ventured' by Jeffrey Archer. It was the first time most of us had read a book by him, and we were pleasantly surprised.
We chose books for the next two months. July's book is 'The Taming of the Queen' by Philippa Gregory, and August's will be 'The Other Half of Augusta Hope' by Joanna Glen.
