Denise Maiden gave a very interesting talk on her family tree research. Denise noted those facts that we come across in research; son's middle names = father's first name, daughter's middle name = mother's maiden name, the common misspellings occurring when the record keeper was the only person present who could read and write, and so they wrote down the 'sound' of names, and the fact that the 1921 census is the last one available for 30 years (1931 destroyed by bombing and 1941 not taken). Roll on the 1951 census!
