TU3A Photography Group Webpage Update February 2021
During the current Covid restrictions, monthly ‘meetings’ take place on-line via the Shutterfly website every first Tuesday of each month between 2-4pm. Any new member wishing to enrol with the Photography Group can do so by contacting Steve Carter (leader) via the contact details given below and elsewhere on the website and TUTA News magazine. You will then be invited to enrol as part of the Shutterfly group and all you need to do is to respond via the links as prompted.
We operate by identifying a topic, or theme each month around which to compose up to a dozen photographs per member, uploading them to the Shutterfly website, which has been chosen because of its ease of operation (you won’t need to be an IT expert to make it work). At the time of the ‘meeting,’ we are able to make comments about each others’ photographs, replicating very effectively what we would do in a normal meeting.
Topics for 2021 are as follows:
Meeting Date | Review Topic | Thoughts – be imaginative |
5th January | Seasons | 3 or 4 shots for each season |
2nd February | Put yourself in the picture | Selfies; use of self-timer; you decide the background, but it may tell its own story |
2nd March | Churches | Including church architecture – near, or far |
6th April | A subject starting with ?? | You choose which letter and take shots of subjects which start with that letter |
4th May | People in everyday life | At work; doing a hobby; at play; cooking, shopping |
1st June | Water | In any form: sea, lake, river, tap, bowl, refreshment, deluge etc |
6th July | Wildlife | The full range of choices |
August | Normally no meeting, but we might arrange a suitable trip if possible | |
7th September | Mountains | Technically anything over 1,000’; far, or near |
5th October | Reflections | In water, mirror, window – your choice |
2nd November | Memorials | The varied ways in which people create, or keep memories of loved ones |
7th December | Dark/low light | Free choice, but include night-time/star-scapes |
4th January | Weather | Rain/shine; snow/frost; skyscapes; feel free to add any extreme weather shots |
Members will be notified by email as and when Coronavirus regulations will allow us to return to the Jubilee Room, Bredon Village Hall, our normal venue. When normal meetings resume, members will bring their photographs to the Village Hall downloaded to a USB key. We also welcome prints.
The Shutterfly system has proved to be an excellent substitute for normal meetings, but we look forward to the day when we can meet in person again, hopefully fairly soon.
