Ancient Egyptian History
The Ancient Egyptian History group started in February 2020 so if you are interested, you can join us having missed very little. We are beginning our journey at the time of the First Dynasty, about 3000BC; anything previous to that was regarded by the Egyptians themselves as little better than myth.
As well as examining the governance of the country and its ruling classes, we will investigate many aspects of life as experienced by the ordinary Egyptian - food, medicine, family life, religion etc. What was it like being a woman? Or a child? Or a soldier? How important were the Egyptian gods?
Anything that any member of our group wants to know about is fair game, especially if they are willing to do some of the research. New members will be made very welcome.
We meet on the first Thursday of every month, 2.00pm - 4.00pm at the Royal British Legion Club in Church Street.
If you are interested in joining us or would like further information, please contact the group leader, John Goldsack, on 01684-298922 or via the email icon on the right.
