Restarting Interest Groups

The latest Third Age Trust (TAT) advice on restarting interest group activities is contained in U3A-KMS-DOC-072, whilst the advice on Risk Assessments (RAs) is in U3A-KMS-DOC-073, both available in the Advice area of their website. Running your u3a during covid 19

The Advice area also contains example RAs under Template RAs. Risk assessments Please note that members will initially need to create an account for the Advice area (thereafter simply login)

All U3A activities should have an appropriate risk assessment/checklist to ensure the activity is safe for members to participate. Individual members must have access to the completed risk assessment (and any other relevant Covid-19 information/guidance about the location/venue and activity) in order to make their own decision, based on personal circumstances (not shared) and current Govt Covid-19 advice, and then advise the Group Leader if they are safe and wish to participate in the activity. Obviously, anybody with coronavirus symptoms within their household must not participate and should follow appropriate isolation and health guidance.

Some groups are continuing to 'Learn, laugh and live' during the pandemic by using social media and video conferencing. Please contact the Group Leader for current information about any group you may wish to join.

Group Leaders The link in the box on the right is for use by Group Leaders. This is a password protected area and provides access to documentation such as Advice Notes, equipment available on loan and the Computer Loan Rules. There are also frequently used forms for accounting to the Treasurer.

Please remember to inform the Membership Secretary if any details change (eg group venue, members' email address, phone numbers, etc)

POSSIBLE NEW GROUPS

PUBLIC SPEAKING
Is there interest in starting a new group on How to be a Public Speaker? Many of you will have had interesting careers, experiences, hobbies etc, or have passionate ideas you wish to share with others. However, do you have the skills and confidence to share them with others? A new group is proposed (possibly only for a short period) to help you to achieve those skills and enhance your confidence to present them in a professional and satisfying way.
Contact Bob Skelf at adenbob@sky.com or phone 01684 294381

You will find a list of current groups below. Click on the group name for more details and look out for the blue envelope icon at the top right of each group's page to contact the Group Leader.

If you want to know what happens on particular days, to fit around your current commitments, see the table at the base of this page.

Not one to your taste? Consider starting a new one!! Any member may organise a group of members, with the Group Liaison Officer's help and support, to enjoy any legal activity under the U3A umbrella. A Group Leader does not need to be an expert - any experts in the group can enjoy sharing their knowledge with the group, or you can all learn together. More information here: Start a new group

*****

Accessibility All rented venues should have good disabled access and toilet facilities, and Group Leaders aim to ensure that those with disabilities are catered for, should they wish to join a group.

When contacting a group leader with a view to joining a group, please remember to let the group leader know if you have any disabilities which may impact on your attendance or on your participation in the group. Group leaders will make every effort to address any issues such as access, safety, etc.
