Walking the Coastal Footpath

On a brilliantly sunny July day, a group of members tackled the coastal path from Folkestone to Dover. They were rewarded by dazzling views of white cliffs, blue and emerald sea, butterflies and wild orchids. The Battle of Britain Memorial at Capel le Ferne and the remains of coastal defences reflected wartime history. Clifftop views of the Port of Dover, Channel shipping and a smudge on the horizon that was France gave a different perspective on current affairs.
