Italian reading and conversation
Group Leader Jean Burch. Telephone 474381
The emphasis is on reading Italian texts to each other, in turn, and the translation of these into English. For example, at the time of writing we are using a book of short stories relating to the popular TV series, fictional detective, Montalbano. Whilst helping to improve Italian Language skills, the group also provides an opportunity, for those who have a general interest in things Italian, to meet in an informal setting.
Any Italian conversation that takes place at the meeting is voluntary and unstructured. For example, members may wish on occasion to communicate in Italian but can be answered in English or Italian as mood or ability dictates. Meetings take place fortnightly at 14.30 with venues rotating in the homes of individual members. Days of the week may vary and are agreed at preceding meetings.
Whilst not suitable for a complete beginner, the group is friendly and helpful and held in Clacton. There are vacancies at present. Best thing is probably to come along to a meeting prior to signing up.
