Tenby & District U3A started in 2010 and has a growing membership participating in educational, cultural, recreational and social activities.
Originally, the word University described a group of people joining together to learn and teach in the broadest sense. Any activity involves learning and teaching, whether it is painting, history, languages, music or walking. As with all U3A groups there are no set syllabuses and no examinations, all activities are pursued for enjoyment and enlightenment. These factors, together with a sense of sharing typify the various and growing number of groups active in Tenby & District U3A.
Tenby & District encompasses the popular seaside resorts of Tenby, Saundersfoot and Amroth together with the associated hinterlands which include a variety of villages and localities with rural, historical and cultural backgrounds, mostly within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The area is known to be very welcoming of retired and semi retired citizens and is actually within the part of Pembrokeshire known as “Little England Beyond Wales”.
There is a General Meeting on the last Monday of alternate (odd) months at 10.30am. Brief Group updates and information about wider U3A activities are given. Talks by any guest speakers are followed by refreshments allowing Members to ask further questions or to chat socially with each other. The Meeting is held at Augustus Place Community Center, Tenby and all interested potential members are welcome to attend. Membership costs couples, or two people living at the same address £14.00 each pa and single membership £15.00 pa and covers most activities, although a few groups may make a small charges towards room hire or materials. A New Members Pack will be sent to you on request.
