Teignmouth & District U3A is part of a recognised and acknowledged movement for positive ageing for the wellbeing of older people and the communities in which we live. Our group currently has over 200 active members who have joined because they wish to learn together.
During the Covid 19 restrictions your Steering Group (names and positions under Contacts) is working hard to keep our membership updated whilst aiming to keep a sense of proportion and remaining calm. As we are all volunteers we are sure that we can rely on our members to support us and each other in these unusual times and would like to thank you in advance for your co-operation.
The U3A movement is a great way to meet like-minded local people. We have a self help ethos (there are no paid positions) and have kept our annual subscription as low as we can, at £15 per annum from 1 April 2020 to 31 July 2021. To join us, please read 'Joining Teignmouth & District U3A' via the link on the right, you can find the Membership Form link on this page, please download and print it out.
We have around 60 Interest Groups, covering everything from social to exercise to academic. A number of our Interest Groups have moved to meeting by e-mail, telephone and new technology where this is possible - see "Groups" for details. Our Groups Co-Ordinator and Groups Administrator continue to work hard to connect new members into existing groups - or to form new groups where there is a need.
Before the Covid-19 restrictions we held a monthly members meeting with a guest speaker on the first Tuesday of every month, at 2 pm. We look forward to being back together when the lifting of the restrictions allows.
To join us, no qualifications are necessary and there is no age limit - just a wish to continue learning.
We are delighted that we have attracted over 300 members since forming in August 2019 - we wish to serve all older people in our wonderful town and surrounding villages. We would love you to join us, enjoy being with us - and to tell your friends about us.
