CONVENOR For further information, please contact the convenor Jo Pentney on 443344 or click on the link to send an email.
We study a variety of subjects within British archaeology from earliest prehistory to the Middle Ages, depending on members' interests. Field trips to relevant sites and museums are regularly arranged.
A charge of £1 will be made to cover the cost of hiring the room and a small charge for refreshments.
In September the Group enjoyed a morning exploring Muchelney Abbey in glorious early autumn sunshine (what a change from the rain on our other trips!), followed by lunch at the Langport Arms Hotel. In October one of our members, Sheila Hicks, gave us a talk about LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) which is proving invaluable in detecting the earthworks of archaeological sites concealed by woodland.
