This page will feature some of the activities members have done during lockdown.
Alistair Dickson of Bickerton wirtes:
Bickerton had an afternoon tea party on our own drives for the VE Friday. Sort of street party mode but all on our own distanced drives.
Then for Whit weekend, there was a scarecrow competition with 31 entries from a village of ~ 70 houses. Being lovely weather, it got most of the village residents and visitors out for social distanced viewing and voting. One of our villagers created the collage attached.
For the 4th July, we had a miniature garden / display competition - with viewing & voting as for the scarecrows. There is a video compilation of photos of all entries if that is permitted on the website. Overall, the lockdown has been beneficial for the village - getting people to find the local walks, meet neighbours, helping care for shielding, getting to know who else is in your street!!
Not sure about putting hobby stuff on... I have done crafts and hobbies demonstrations at Caravan Club rallies as well as demo / exhibiting at railway exhibitions - the crafts & hobbies demo is maybe an idea for Tad U3A to consider as and when we get back to some form of normality. One photo attached showing two Caledonian Railway coaches that I have been working on - brass kits - solder construction, painting, transfers, etc.
