Walking Group; 1st Thursday of each month
Hi, I am Rob Crosby; I volunteered to coordinate U3A walks, mostly in Leicestershire. Walking/ climbing / mountaineering, has been my main hobby for about 50 years. My wife and I travel around Britain quite a lot and tend to walk in the local areas, rather than do the tourists bit. I am enjoying the outings with the U3A and try to work with the other walkers to find the most enjoyable outings with interesting features to check out or research. We have visited churches, nature reserves, water parks, forts, and of course a pub or cafes near the end of the walks, etc. The walks last about 2 or 3 hours, although they are fairly gentle we try to make them "worthwhile" outings. Not too challenging but worth getting out of bed for. I think the main reasons to get together and walk is to "foster a love of the countryside" with an essential health improvement and companionship.
